DA Marketplace Use and Zero Tolerance Policy

DA Marketplace is primarily intended to provide a platform for the recycling and reuse of items related to a student's school experience (e.g., used textbooks or summer reading books, Durham Academy spirit wear, athletics equipment, musical instruments, and Senior Challenge or Capstone supplies).

The following listings are prohibited: weapons, firearms, or ammunition; drugs or drug paraphernalia; prescription medication; alcohol; tobacco or vape-related items; unauthorized course materials, essays, or tests; and annotated English or World Language books. Business posts are not appropriate for DA Marketplace; to advertise a business or service, please utilize DA CavClassifieds (da.org/cavclassifieds).

DA Marketplace has a strict zero-tolerance policy for misuse. Users who violate these rules will be permanently removed from the platform and will forfeit the right to any future participation.

1. No Item Flipping

This platform is for passing on items you no longer need. Acquiring items here with the intent to resell them (here or elsewhere) at a higher price is prohibited and will result in permanent removal from the platform.

2. Listings & Status Management

As a seller, you are solely responsible for keeping your listing status accurate and up to date. Listings must be marked correctly:

  • Available: the item is still available and has not been reserved.
  • Reserved: you have agreed to transfer the item to someone and are awaiting exchange.
  • Sold: the item has been exchanged.

Deliberately misrepresenting the status of a listing is grounds for removal.

3. Exchanges

Both parties are jointly responsible for arranging and completing the transfer of items. All logistics (when, where, and how to exchange) must be coordinated directly between the two parties. DA Marketplace does not handle payments, hold funds, or coordinate exchanges in any way.

4. Responsible Use

This platform exists for the Durham Academy community. Use it honestly, respectfully, and in good faith. Buyers and sellers are expected to communicate promptly, honor all commitments, and complete payment transactions in a timely manner. Any behavior deemed harmful, deceptive, or disruptive to the community will result in permanent removal from the platform.

5. Disclaimer of Responsibility

Durham Academy and DA Marketplace are not responsible for overseeing, mediating, or guaranteeing any transaction that takes place on this platform. By using this site, you acknowledge that you are engaging in peer-to-peer exchange as an individual community member, and that DA assumes no liability for lost items, failed exchanges, disputes, or damages of any kind.
